- No purchase necessary. Participants must be legal residents of the United States and/or the District of Columbia. One entry per person. Employees of Sam’s Club (sponsor), or DiversityInc Media LLC (administrator), their subsidiaries, affiliates, and immediate family members are not eligible for the contest. No purchase necessary. Void where prohibited.
- How to Enter – Eligible participants must provide a strategic plan that will communicate a strategy for Sam’s Club to increase its visibility and penetration in the Latino community. Five (5) plans will be selected to win $20,000 each. $15,000 will be awarded to the team and $5,000 will be awarded to the college or university. To participate, you must complete the online registration form (link here), provide a letter of reference from a faculty member at your college or university and submit your entry between January 3, 2010 and May 14, 2010. Submitting an entry constitutes agreement to the terms of these Official Rules and to all decisions of Sam’s Club and/or its designee, which are final and binding in all respects. Sam’s Club is not responsible for incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete entry information or for entries which are unintelligible, damaged, incomplete or otherwise defective, or that are lost due to any reason, all of which will be void . Participants assume all risk of lost, late, misdirected, incomplete or ineligible entries. Once submitted, all entries become the sole property of Sam’s Club and can/will be used to promote company programs and services without further compensation to or permission of the entrants. Entries will not be returned. All entry information, including the student’s name and school, will be posted for public viewing on the program website and social media pages.
- What Are The Strategic Plan Requirements? All applicants must complete the contest registration form including: applicant’s full name, age, primary phone number, address, e-mail address, high college/university name and expected graduation date.The strategic membership plan for Latino markets should include (but not be limited to):

Online submission process requirements:
- Complete the online contest application at www.hsischolarships.com
- Submit your marketing plan to submissions@hsischolarships.com
- All submissions must be in English.
- Entry must not exceed the 5,000-word limit.
- Please include your last name in the bottom right hand corner of each page.
- Page formatting should be double spaced with a 12-point LEGIBLE font.
- Your entry has been successfully submitted when you receive a confirmation email from submissions@hsischolarships.com.
How Is Everything Judged?
- A judging panel selected by Sam’s Club will determine the finalists based on the criteria listed below.
Written Criteria:
Must follow Official Contest Rules.
Plans will be judged on originality, content, clarity, grammar, and community impact.
The strategic membership plan for Latino markets should include (but not be limited to):

- Marketing Plan & Timeline
- Budget
- Incentives
- Leveraging Technology
- Increasing Traffic, Basket, and Wallet Scale
Once judging is complete, five (5) finalists will be selected to receive the scholarships. Finalists will be notified by the phone number and email address provided on their application.
The judges’ decision is final.
